Hallvarsson & Halvarsson invites you to a breakfast seminar on developments in the real estate sector. After years of continuous growth in the Swedish real estate stock, construction has now come to a standstill, extinguishing one of the strongest engines that powered the Swedish economic machinery. What is needed to reverse this trend? On Friday, June 2, we will address this issue alongside four experts in construction and real estate.

Housing construction was long an engine of growth in Sweden. However, since inflation took off in the wake of the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the situation has changed dramatically. The Riksbank has raised interest rates sharply, house prices have fallen, and housing construction has declined. Not since the property crisis in the 1990s have we seen such a significant decline in housing construction. At the same time, Sweden is expected to have the lowest economic growth in the entire EU this year.

How did this happen, and what can be done to reverse the trend? Where will people live in the future, and how can they afford to do so?

‍Hallvarsson &Hallvarsson & Halvarsson invited some experts to share their views on the situation and propose solutions to the construction and housing crisis:

Tanja Rasmusson‍

Head of business policy for the trade and employer organization Byggföretagen

Ulf Hansson

Head of Division, Building Sweden, NCC

Mattias Carrass

CEO of SSSB, Stockholm Student Housing Foundation

Svante Jonsson

CEO and founder of the property advisor Tango

At the seminar, a survey on the Swedes’ view of housing will also be presented.
